Patients that have lost an eye may have problems wearing or retaining an ocular prosthesis. This may be due to previous surgery, scarring, eyelid abnormalities, or a poor fitting prosthesis. Occasionally, anophthalmic patients have problems with the eye socket that may require additional reconstructive surgery in order to wear an adequate prosthesis. Please contact our office for a consultation if you have any questions about the loss of an eye or wearing a prosthetic eye.
