Revisional Eyelid Surgery

The eyelids are very sensitive structures that play an important role in protecting our eyes to maintain our visual function.  As an Oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Joos has special training in not only eyelids, but also the delicate structures of the eye. Occasionally, patients may undergo facial plastic surgery procedures elsewhere which have resulted in complications with the eye, eyelids or brows.

The most common issues that are referred to Dr. Joos for revision include:

  • Incomplete eyelid closure (lagophthalmos)

  • Asymmetry of eyelids

  • Lower eyelid retraction

The goals of revisional eyelid surgery are to restore the function of the eyelids, protect the eye and visual function and to achieve an aesthetic result.

It is important to consult an eyelid expert when faced with these issues.
