How does thread lifting work?
How is the procedure performed?
This is done in the office under local anesthesia. The procedure takes about 45 minutes and there is minimal pain. The thread lift devices are made of an absorbable material (Poly L Lactic acid & Poly Lactic-co-Glycolic acid- which have been used for suturing material for decades) that support the soft tissue of the face and “lifts” it to a more youthful position. The material dissolves under the skin over several months and is replaced with new collagen which is an added benefit. Patients have anywhere from 2-10 “threads” placed depending on the patient and areas to be treated.
People have mild swelling or bruising for 3-5 days. Results last anywhere from 1 to 3 years. Collagen production is naturally reduced with ageing and therefore this ‘re-stimulation’ is pivotal to providing long-term improvement of the face and neck contours. The long-term results are augmented by absorption of the thread, which is replaced by new collagen under the skin.
